Ingredients

  • 4 Ripe pears, peeled, cored, and diced
  • 1 cup Honey
  • 1 cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 cup Red onion finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tsp Mustard seeds
  • 1 tsp Red pepper flakes (adjust according to spice preference)
  • 1/2 tsp Ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp Ground cloves
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  • In a medium-sized saucepan, combine diced pears, honey, apple cider vinegar, chopped red onion, grated ginger, mustard seeds, red pepper flakes, ground cinnamon, ground cloves, and a pinch of salt.
  • Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to ensure the honey dissolves evenly.
  • Once the mixture is boiling, reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for about 30-40 minutes, or until the chutney thickens and the pears become tender. Stir occasionally.
  • Taste the chutney and adjust the seasoning, adding more salt or red pepper flakes if desired.
  • Remove the chutney from heat and let it cool to room temperature. As it cools, the chutney will continue to thicken.
  • Transfer the Spicy Pear Honey Chutney to sterilized jars and store them in the refrigerator.
